The thrill of the auction block recently drew in sports enthusiasts and collectors alike as Goldin's August Elite Auction showcased a plethora of high-end modern sports cards and memorabilia that fetched impressive six-figure sums. Among the top attractions was a stunning PSA 8 1984-85 Star Company Michael Jordan rookie card, which skyrocketed to a groundbreaking $244,000, setting a remarkable new record for that specific grade.

Not to be outdone, a PSA 7 Jordan Star Company rookie card had previously captured attention by selling for $62,000 on eBay, highlighting the growing momentum in the market for Jordan's inaugural NBA licensed trading card. The fervor continued as a PSA 6.5 version of the card found a new owner for the price of $52,460.

Another star of the auction was a truly unique 1-of-1 2009 Bowman Sterling Red Refractor Autograph card featuring MLB sensation Mike Trout. Despite the player's recent struggles with injuries, the card, graded PSA 9, managed to fetch an impressive $192,030.

Baseball enthusiasts witnessed two more records being shattered for modern players with a 2011 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor Bryce Harper #5/5, graded PSA 9, fetching a remarkable $184,720, and a 2014 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor Mookie Betts #3/5, graded PSA 10, capturing attention with a hefty $123,220 price tag.

The allure of 1-of-1 SuperFractor cards also proved strong, with the 2024 Topps Chrome Autographed SuperFractor Elly De La Cruz, graded PSA 10, commanding $116,534, while a Jackson Holliday SuperFractor PSA 10 found a buyer at $68,527, setting new barometers for both players.

A standout piece in the auction was the dual autograph Ronaldo/Messi SuperFractor from the 2023-24 Topps UEFA series, graded PSA 9, which fetched an impressive $67,100. Originally pulled in England by a breaker, the card made its way to Goldin at the London Card Show.

On the memorabilia front, Travis Kelce's 2020-21 Super Bowl LV jersey, which was photomatched to the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, took center stage with a winning bid of $52,460. Additionally, Kelce's AFC Championship ring from the same season found a new home for $34,404.

The auction also saw notable sales including an Aaron Judge 2017 rookie season jersey photomatched to one of his record-breaking 52 home runs, which commanded an impressive $51,240.

Among the additional top sales were the following:

- 2017 National Treasures Patrick Mahomes RPA #77/99: $95,770

- 2018 Bowman Orange Refractor Shohei Ohtani #22/75 PSA 9: $74,450
